Bodies of Haitians wash ashore in TCISearch and rescue teams are resuming the search for persons, presumed to be Haitians on Wednesday, after 10 bodies were found in the Turks and Caicos Islands on Tuesday.A spokesman for the Turks and Caicos Police Force, Kevin Clarke, said that at least five of the bodies had washed ashore early Tuesday after law enforcement authorities were alerted “to people running in the bushes on the northwest point”.We know there are survivors, but none has been captured by the police,” Clarke added.A small fishing boat was found capsized along the beach and Clarke said the police have not yet confirmed whether it was the boat on which the migrants travelled.“It’s a very small boat (and) we still don’t know how many persons came.”Police said the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the illegal migrants are not yet clear, but the waters off the island’s northwest point can be treacherous especially during bad weather as had been the case on Tuesday.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The date, 6th August, holds a special place in the hearts of every Jamaican, regardless of color, creed or religious or political persuasion. This date has become a part of our national subconsciousness – planted since infancy – as we were exposed to the enormous struggles and tremendous sacrifices made by our forefathers which spawned the birth of independent Jamaica in 1962. The struggles for emancipation and ultimately independence, have contributed to our rich history and laid the foundation for the myriad achievements and benefits that we currently enjoy and which have engendered strong feelings of national pride in our people, for more than five (5) decades. The commemoration of the 57th Anniversary of our country’s independence, under the theme “One Nation, One People” is a poignant reminder of our diverse ancestry, constituting afro-descendants, Indians, Chinese, Lebanese and Europeans; formulating a melting pot of cultures, ideas and behaviors which make us uniquely Jamaican. This is a distinction for which we stand proud; cohesion amidst diversity. This year’s theme is also in keeping with our motto, “Out of Many, One People”, which is symbolic of the force behind our nation’s raison d’etre. Despite our differences, we have recorded much progress as a nation. Our small country, although barely visible on the world map, continues to produce persons of high repute whose meaningful contributions transcend our 144 square miles to the world, in many areas including in the arts, sciences, culture and sports. Regarded to be among the best destinations in the Caribbean, and indeed the world, more than four (4) million visitors take time each year to enjoy the spectacular beauty of our shores and the endearing warmth of our people. The pulsating rhythm of our beloved reggae music which was recently designated by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, continues to thrill the hearts of people across the globe, while our cuisine which has stimulated the palates of many, is widely recognized as among the best gastronomic delights internationally. In recent years, based on the bi-partisan efforts of the current and previous Administrations, the Jamaican economy has achieved macroeconomic stability which has earned us the respect of multiple international financial institutions. Unemployment has plummeted to its lowest levels in decades; the economy has been recording modest growth, coupled with an increase in consumer confidence, as we witness a period of unprecedented expansion. Jamaica, the home of the best performing stock market for 2018, is also being positioned as a prime destination for investment, booking more than $500 million on local and foreign direct investment for the 2018/2019 period. It is clear that there is no limit to what we can achieve when we work together as “one nation, one people”. The theme must therefore be seen as a rallying call for all Jamaicans, both at home and abroad, to join forces to overcome the challenges we continue to confront, such as crime and violence, which impede further progress. As the Prime Minister, the Most Honorable Andrew Holness, indicated at the recently concluded 8th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference, we remain grateful for the “immense contribution that the Diaspora continues to make to national development”. Your solid support over the years in education, health and other key sectors, has formed the bedrock of our nation’s development. I am pleased that your distance from the island’s shores has not diminished your love and passion for our beloved homeland and you continue to share our common bond as “one nation, one people”.I appeal to Jamaicans across the length and breadth of the United States, to continue to support the Government of Jamaica in its efforts to improve the welfare of all Jamaicans in our beloved homeland.Happy Independence 2019!

Though for the past five seasons, this has been the season with the most gap between 1st and 2nd positions after the 11th week. The Citizens have drawn just one of their opening 11 matches of the season, winning their last nine scoring an average of 3goal per match. That change precipitated a record-breaking 11-match unbeaten that sent them to the Premier League’s Summit and there’s a possibility of no looking back. They are one of the few clubs in Europe to boast of an unbeaten streak this season.Indeed, Pep Guardiola Team have been topping the table ever since their city rival; Manchester United draw a game against Liverpool.Spurs, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal will try making a decent fist of challenging Manchester City stronghold on top spot but history suggests the leader were never going to give it up easily yet.Stats from five seasons now have it that a club that tops till the end of the Christmas fixtures have always had their way to win the League. Yet we are still far away from Christmas with several mouth watery fixtures involving the table leader, Manchester City. With other contenders hoping ahead to Manchester City key fixtures against United (December 10) and Tottenham (December 16), the possibility of the citizens obtaining less than the maximum point is high but with their current form of defeating Liverpool 5-0, Chelsea 1-0 and Arsenal 3-1, we don’t need any more evidence.

Share Alessandro Fried, Chairman for BtoBet, has published a new white paper on the changing habits of bettors and a technological revolution in both daily and gaming life. The wide-ranging report, which details the evolution of the bettor, the 3D view of the consumer and an increased level of automation in the industry, also questions whether the sports betting sector is fully harnessing the power and accessibility of the mobile. For example, Fried suggests that more “corrective actions and incentives to dissatisfied players can help maintain players’ loyalty towards the brand”.He also concedes that because players are now more tech-savvy and becoming ever more demanding, “they are pushing firms towards effective strategies and technology to improve their service, boost player confidence and increase player lifetime values”.Fried goes on to describe a new reality which requires “continuous development of the omnichannel platform” to enable operators to deliver the right product at the ideal time for every customer. He said: “The possibility exists now for operators to utilize deep-dive data analytics, automation and personalization of offers while creating meaningful experiences for users through a clever omnichannel platform.“That will inevitably be a big plus for attracting to a brand and retaining their loyalty. For example, BtoBet’s recommendation engine collects and analyses large amounts of information on players’ behaviour, activities, preferences, predicting what they would like to receive.“Through its Artificial Intelligence and sophisticated algorithms, it enables operators to track players’ behavior to provide perfect suggestions, for the best odds and bets for each player or segment of players. At the same time, technology is helping licensees to detect any suspicious and fraudulent behavior to instantly check and correct anomalies.”Fried concludes that the sports betting ecosystem is highly developed and technology has helped provide opportunities to fulfil the wants and needs of the consumer. However, it is fundamental for a software provider such as BtoBet to guarantee a continuous process, with a flow of information, analysis and suggested bets that can be offered to each player regardless of channel. To download ‘Change for the bettor: New scenarios for betting on sports‘, click HERE.
